MUSEG Organ Course 2025 will take place from July 21st to 27th, with professors Bine Bryndorf and Ángel Montero. Organ classes will take place between July 21st  and 27th. The course will culminate with the Organ Route, a series of concerts that will take place during the festival in different churches of the province of Segovia.

Participants in the organ courses will have the opportunity to play on the Organ Route, and to practice throughout the week on the different organs that will be used for the concerts.

WHO IS IT INTENDED FOR?

The MUSEG 2025 Organ Course will take place from July 21st to 25th in Segovia, Spain. It is open for professional performers, graduates, and organ students.

The course offers 8 places for active students and 15 for audit students.

Calendar

– July 21st to 25th: Organ course. The lessons will take place in the organs of Segovia’s Cathedral and in the churches of AbadesEl EspinarSangarcía or Martin Miguel.

– July 26th and 27th: students will participate in the “Ruta del Órgano”, a series of student concerts that will take place in the churches mentioned above.

  • ORGAN LITERATURE

Each active participant may bring a free program, with works to choose from the next items. The course organization may send scores from the music to the active participants, it this were necessary.

Composers: Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621), Heinrich Scheidemann (1595-1663), Franz Tunder (1614-1667), Matthias Weckmann (c.1616-1674), Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) and Johann Adam Reincken (1643-1722).

 

  • HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE SOURCES

Historical treatrises and sources will be analyzed. Early fingerings, articulation, tempo and tactus, ornamentation, registration, etc., will be discussed around the historical performance practice at the instruments from 17th and 18th century, connected to the literature from part A.

 

  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

-Classes will be held in Spanish and English.

-8 active students will be accepted. Each active student will be entitled to one class per day. The course schedules will be in the morning and afternoon, and will be communicated in advance.

-Students will have practice time to rehearse on the historical instruments where the course will take place, as well as on study organs enabled for this purpose.

-Travel to instruments outside Segovia for lessons will be carried out by the course organization.

-Students must communicate the repertoire they wish to work on at the time of registration. Likewise, if they wish to request scores by any of the composers or works proposed in the course, they must communicate this in advance at the time of registration.

The pre-registration deadline will be April, 30th. Once it is closed, we will contact all students by email to inform them about admission. Students who are not admitted as active will have preference as listening students.
